Whatever your level of interest, knowledge or experience, you are sure of a warm and friendly welcome at the Ashwell Horticultural Society.

We meet at the URC Hall in Ashwell High Street on the first Thursday of each month at 8:00pm, apart from June, July and August, when visits to various local gardens and other venues are arranged.

In September the Autumn Show is held on the first Saturday of the month, in place of the Thursday meeting. However, for one year only the show will be on the second Saturday, 9th September 2017 in St Mary's Church, as the school is not available this year.

We have interesting speakers, discussions and a monthly raffle. We hold two Shows each year, with horticulture and craft sections, and arrange visits to beautiful gardens and nurseries throughout the year. We also arrange short breaks with a horticultural theme. It is planned to go to Northern Ireland in 2017 to celebrate our fortieth anniversary.

This November we had another successful AGM with a really interesting talk by Chris James, giving us an update on the Ashwell Quarry Nature Reserve. There was also excellent food and wine with convivial company!

Please come to one of our meetings and meet us, or contact one of our committee.

The Ashwell Horticultural Society was founded in 1977 by a group of enthusiastic gardeners, under the chairmanship of Geoff Cook, following the successful Queen's Silver Jubilee Horticultural Show held on 3rd September that year. The Autumn Show has been held every year since then.

The first Spring Show was held on 2nd April 1992, initiated by Peter Hankin.

In 2016, the Spring show was held on 7th April and the Autumn Show on 3rd September. See Show page for details.
